Name: Tom miller

Age: 39

Sober Since: 01 / 07 / 2015

Sober For: 9 Years & 110 Days

What it was like?

It was horrible. I had to constantly be using some kind of substance just to cope. It got to a point I was working for free because I'd snort my paycheck 5 days before I even got it. I lost everything. I tried to commit suicide numerous times couldn't get that right. I started with drugs and when I couldn't afford them I went to drinking.

What happened?

I went through a treatment center and reconnected with a woman I hadn't seen in 10 yrs. We started dating and I found out her mom was dying from drinking. Twice a week I would take her mom to get the fluid from her liver drained from her abdomen. I watched an alcoholics death it's slow painful and horrible. It showed me where road leads. She died on her daughters ( my now wifes) birthday

What it is like now?

Things are great I'm married I'm happy and I dont need a substance to survive. I have a beautiful wife 2 cats and our own house. New car and unlimited smiles
