Name: Ryen

Age: 27

Sober Since: 09 / 30 / 2019

Sober For: 4 Years & 181 Days

What it was like?

Drinking typically an 18 rack a day, maybe on the weekends I'd shake it up a bit with a 4 pack a double IPAs and a 30 rack, bottle of bacardi 100 proof and a bag of dandy would fall into the mix as well. Full of hate within myself and others, slowly destroying my relationship with loved ones. Thinking by getting wasted everyday was just the typical thing as thats what certain friends and myself would do on the daily, and make jokes about being alcoholics. It was almost funny to my co workers when I'd come walking in the next day hand dragging on the ground, eye bleeding out of my head, hungover to the 10th degree. It was sadly excepted as either they didnt have a problem or " they were young once too ", but they didn't really knoe to the extent of my crazy after I'd leave happy hour after work, which I would have roughly between 4 - 6 beers before driving home.

What happened?

Finally hit my rock bottom.

What it is like now?

The photo of me is the day I hit my One year sober. Since the day I went sober everything went up, work, life, relationships, granted I hit a couple of bumps along the way, such as loosing my father ( from alcoholism ) but sobriety gave me the strength to make it through it with out hitting the bottle and dealing with my true emotions. My relationship with my girlfriend has never been better, lost some but learned who my true friends are and always are there for me now, in fact, have had two friends join our journey of sobriety! Created an instagram page, @TheSoberCarpenter to show my skills but also show others in the trade that we are capable to do what we do, without drugs and alcohol, and have met some other sober tradesmen and people through it too! At such a better head space with myself, truly realizing what being happy is and who I really am! One day at a time people, thats all that matters! Keep it going we've got this!
