What it was like?

I was a meth addict for 14 years and got clean in 2000. Shortly after my daughter was born in 2004, I started drinking occasionally. I thought it was ok since alcohol wasn't my DOC. Within 5 years, was drinking between 16-32 oz of vodka almost nightly. I was living a double life and the guilt and shame was more than I could take.

What happened?

I went to CA on vacation. I knew I was going to see my best friend who has also struggled with addiction. As soon as I saw her, she asked me how I was doing. I told her I needed help and walked into a meeting that night.

What it is like now?

Over 6 yrs into sobriety and loving life. I've done a 180 in my career, going into non-profit work and serving others. My daughter is happy and has a mom that's present and engaged. I'm a work in progress- and relishing the journey.
