Name: Angie Batica

Age: 41

Sober Since: 07 / 25 / 2009

Sober For: 14 Years & 251 Days

What it was like?

I had a twelve year drunk that ended up costing me everything and almost my life.

What happened?

The Army was rough and caused PTSD so I started drinking heavily there. It went on for years and I became a drug addict too. I lost jobs, my townhome, apartments, boyfriends, friends and have a criminal record. I tried suicide a few times as well.

What it is like now?

I went into inpatient treatment at the VA. Now I'm happily married with kids, a Taekwondo instructor, business owner, and volunteer for many organizations. I sought therapy through the VA and support in AA/NA.
