Name: John

Age: 36

Sober Since: 12 / 29 / 2014

Sober For: 9 Years & 114 Days

What it was like?

I ended up a 100 pound homeless addict/alcoholic. I lost my dad to cancer and gave up on life. I started drinking and drugging after I decided to quit baseball and throw away a scholarship offer.

What happened?

I got sober in 2008. I managed to get 6 and a half years of great sobriety. On my 34th birthday, oct 9, 2014, I gave away a kidney to an old timer from my homegroup. I relapsed for 40-50 days or so on the pain meds. I became suicidal quickly. I reached out to my kidney recipient and she 12 stepped me. That's how we do it in the rooms!!

What it is like now?

My life is amazing. Never perfect but perfectly imperfect. My sanity has returned. I'm living in gratitude on a daily basis and showing it through my actions. My soul purpose is to help others and be of service. I love my life again!
