What it was like?

Honestly, it was a fun ride til it wasn’t anymore. I was a very social drinker. High school frank a couple of times then the college fraternity days came and I was drinking on Thursday night parties. Then Thursday Friday. Then Thursday Friday Saturday, and so on. I made it through college pretty unscathed and moved to Orlando to perform for Disney. That is when many other extracurricular substances came into my life. Disney came to an end and it was off to the fashion world. It was almost everyday happy hour. I became a flight attendant and the isolation and being alone turned into a depressive bender. Everyday, three bottles of wine and more a day for quite sometime.

What happened?

I woke up. It was suggested to me that I may need AA. I drove passed the place may times and sat outside to see the people walking in and out. My god father drove me to my first meeting at Lambda south Fort Lauderdale. It was not easy at first. I was very too myself and just listened. I went back out for a little research and then my god father drove me right back. I began the steps. I got a sponsor. I became part of and not away from. I joined the sober softball team. I reached out and made myself know. Around year 6 I went into a little isolation and took my will back. My ego entered and my friends brought me right back. Since then I have kept myself in the middle.

What it is like now?

Now it is as if my life is in a constant peace. I meditate. I work the steps. I am redoing them now and I am on step 6. I make meetings. I care for others. I have come out of my shell to shine my light for myself and others. I am currently Mrs. Florida Round up 2020. I use my creativity to carry the message. I am currently writing and inspirational/journal/calendar that I am so ready to publish. I give back so freely as it was given to me. There are still days of self doubt but I still use the tools that were shared with me and work through anything. Life is a wild ride. There is so much to enjoy when you place your positive energy into the right avenues.
