What it was like?

I was committed to a drug rehab by my family from the hospital where I was taken because of a drug overdose. I was transported in the back of a police car.

What happened?

After a few days in detox it was suggested that I do the 28 day rehab they offered. I reluctantly decided to do this...not really sure if I was really ready to change. This rehab offered a church service that was optional to attend. I only went to shut my roommate up. I had no idea what was fixing to happen. That church service would prove to the change in my life. I have not been the same since. Turning my will and my life over to the care of God...I became a sponge in the rehab...leaving the rehab with 4 notebooks full of notes and every handout they had to give!

What it is like now?

My life has purpose! I have a joy that I never experienced during my 14 years of addiction. I am currently working on a degree in Substance Abuse Counseling. I volunteer at Celebrate Recovery as a group leader for the ladies addiction group.
