Name: Gypsy Ozee

Age: 52

Sober Since: 01 / 27 / 2016

Sober For: 8 Years & 91 Days

What it was like?

I was living that Rock n' Roll life. I was a functioning drunk. Drank enough bourbon to float a battleship!

What happened?

3 days of drinking top shelf. Co2 @ 80% went into hypercarbia then respitory failure then coma for 10 days. Docs said I was 12 hrs from death. Told the family they didn't know how and if I would come out of this?

What it is like now?

Great to be sober. Still struggle from time to time. Suffered permanent damage. Loss of short term memory. Can't remember the last 5 years. Severe chronic pain, neuropathy, fall risk, walk with a cane, fall n' stumble. The biggest effect was my internal TBI. Brain damage in the frontal and mid lobes. I did more than just killing a few brain cells. Also have PTSD from another trauma but now it's much worse. Everyday is different but at least no more hangovers...
