What it was like?

Living in a constant state of anxiety, sadness, and shame. I found myself always trying to "make things right" with friends, family, and myself.

What happened?

I was a "late bloomer" and didn't start drinking until my 20's. It was fun at first, but in my late 20's and early to mid 30's quickly turned into something bigger than myself. I would drink just to kill the anxiety and hangover from the day/night before. Blackouts were common and so was waking up drinking until I passed out late at night. It was a vicious and sicking cycle.

What it is like now?

Amazing. I have gained the trust and respect from so many people. I am proud to be able to walk through life without all those negative feelings. With the Lord (and AA), truly ANYTHING is possible.
