Heather Locklear is no stranger to making headlines for her substance abuse. In July, it was reported that the star was seeking long-term treatment for alcohol addiction and mental health issues.
Amid her own struggles over the past year, last Wednesday the 56-year-old posted an inspiring message about addiction and recovery while mourning the death of a friend, named Josh, who died after battling addiction.
“Addiction is ferocious and will try to take you down,” the post reads. “Recovery is the best revenge. Be kind to everyone you meet, your light just might change their path. Rest in peace beautiful Josh. You touched my [heart].”
An Alleged Overdose
The troubled actress was arrested in February after an alleged confrontation with her boyfriend, Chris Heisser. The Melrose Place actress then allegedly attacked officers who were responding to the incident, officials said at the time.
Again in June, Locklear ended up back in handcuffs when she was arrested after being discovered drunk and arguing with others. While being arrested, she kicked an EMT worker. However, just hours after she posted bail, Locklear ended up in a nearby hospital for an alleged overdose. Soon after, she checked into rehab for alcohol and mental health treatment.
In late August, she was hit with new charges in her EMT assault. Locklear’s next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 27.
“I Am Very Proud Of My Daughter For Her Composure and Strength…”
It was the second time in three months she was entering rehab, and it’s unclear if she is still there. Locklear returned to social media in August after a four-month hiatus. She has since shared several photos and videos of her Maltese dog, Mister.
Locklear’s ex-husband Richie Sambora told the Daily Mail last month that he’ll always support the actress and be there for their daughter Ava, 20.
“I will of course always be there for Heather and especially Ava,” he told the newspaper. “I am very proud of my daughter for her composure and strength during this difficult time.”
Whatever the case may be, we’re excited to see the inspiring message newfound road of recovery that Heather Locklear may be trudging on.
