What it was like?

I came from an abusive, angry, alcoholic family where I lived in fear constantly. I became an abusive, angry, alcoholic and drug addict trying to instill fear in everyone I met. I failed at everything-jobs, relationships, health, life, sanity-- and I was miserable.

What happened?

I saw some old party friends that had gone through treatment and they told me about NA. I went to a meeting and knew this is where I belonged. I was 26 years old and I am now 51. I grew up in NA.

What it is like now?

I have serenity in my life! It's a miracle. I went back to school and got a Bachelors Degree and a Masters Degree and raised an amazing, loving and kind son (as a single mom) who is 17 and graduating High School this year. He grew up tagging along to meetings with me and he does not use drugs. I have a beautiful home in an amazing city, a career making really good money and great job security. More importantly, I have true and loving friendships, supportive meetings I go to weekly, and a loving GOD who runs my life. I am so BLESSED!
