Sober Since: 02 / 19 / 2003

Sober For: 21 Years & 303 Days

What it was like?

My life was a total mess. I had abandoned two of my kids to their father, I weighed 84 lbs at my smallest, I was in an extremely violent relationship the went both ways. I was an IV user of meth and spent weeks on end awake and doing stupid crap like painting my porch at 2 am in the winter in Oklahoma.

What happened?

I finally got tired of everything going wrong in my life. I knew I had to something and quitting was the first step. I had no idea that two months after quitting my ultimate reason to stay quit would occur and that was losing my husband to an overdose.

What it is like now?

I am proud to say all my kids are back in my life and thriving. I have now been sober for over 14 years and just completed my bachelor's degree in justice. I walk the stage in 3 weeks. I'm happily remarried and work for a large mortgage company in charge of auditing their claims.
