What it was like?
My life was one bad mistakes after another as my addiction grew. I was destroying my children and families life as I destroyed my mind and body. I tried multiple times to take my life to end the pain I felt and that I gave away.
What happened?
I was the head pharmacy tech at a Pharmacy and in an abusive relationship! I started stealing pills to bring home and sell to support my habit. I wa a caught and convicted to 4 years in prison. I lost my children, my home and my freedom. I had so much time to think about my mistakes and to realize that I was the one to blame. So I made a decision to change me and my life! I went through 2 year program, domestic violence classes and strengthened my spirituality
What it is like now?
Now I’m a Certified Peer Support Specialist!! I am the 1st Behavioral Health Coordinator for my tribe, the Catawba Nation. I have SO much to be thankful for, but none more important than my children’s love and our relationship! The Creator has a purpose and a plan for ALL life, even if you don’t know what it is today!! Never give up hope and please seek help because it is there for you!
