What it was like?

I was a bartender for 15 yrs doing the late night thing...going out after work every night giving the money that I had just made back to another bartender from the opposite side of the bar. I was drinking with friends, driving around from bar to bar and not going anywhere in life. With two college degrees under my belt, I just couldn’t seem to find the motivation to go back to a regular 9-to-5 job or lifestyle.

What happened?

The frequency of my drinking went from weekends to starting on Wednesday nights through Sunday night. One night on the way home I looked down to check a text and ran off the side of the road missing a huge tree by just a few inches and damaging my brand new car. Thinking about the possible outcomes of my actions was a huge wake up call for me. The next morning, St. Patrick’s Day 2014, I swore off drinking until my car was fixed. It’s now been 4 1/2 years and I’ve never looked back.

What it is like now?

I am now a certified personal trainer, aqua therapist and wellness coach. I have done a 180° turnabout in my life and love every minute of it. I know I am one of the lucky ones, that’s what St. Patty’s Day reminds me of every year.
