Name: Courtney

Age: 29

Sober Since: 07 / 21 / 2009

Sober For: 14 Years & 282 Days

What it was like?

Getting sober was like having a massive reset button pushed on your life. You detox; which felt like every bone in my body was breaking simultaneously. Then you have to try and come back into society where nothing makes sense anymore because you’ve never adapted like a normal human being.

What happened?

I went to rehab. I worked like a dog to reset my thought process and how I coped with life.

What it is like now?

Some days are still rough. I go to therapy. I take responsibility for my own actions. But I breathe and I make it through. Because life may be easier with drugs but it isn’t better.
