What it was like?

I was so determined that I was going to make my recovery stick this time and I think that somehow made it easier.

What happened?

My mother & step father were prepared to get full custody of my children after they saw firsthand how badly my habit was destroying basically everything in my life. The ultimatum they gave me was either turn my life around or they would take the kids to live with them & it would've been quite a while before I ever saw them again. I COULDN'T lose my children!! They were literally the only good thing in my life at that time. That all happened on June 12th of 2014. The very next morning, I decided to just push myself through withdrawal & go get myself some help...and that's exactly what I did!!

What it is like now?

I am so grateful for my recovery!! My children & I now live in our own 3-bedroom townhouse. I met the love of my life when I was 3 months into my recovery.....we are now engaged & extremely happy!! He is not an addict but he is still very supportive of my recovery. Life isn't perfect, but that's OK.....at least I've come a LONG way from where I was 4 years ago!!
