- Discussion

- The group reads from and discusses the book Alcoholics Anonymous (the "Big Book").
- Discussion
- A chair introduces a topic and members take turns sharing. This is the most common meeting format.
- Meditation
- Includes a period of silent or guided meditation, usually followed by sharing.
- Open
- Open meetings welcome anyone — family, friends, students, and people who are simply curious — not only those with a drinking or drug problem.
- Speaker
- One or more members share their story at length. Speaker meetings are a good fit if you would rather listen than talk.
Notes from the Group
As the saying goes, “We can always work any Step with a one in front at any time,” regardless of where each of us is on our own respective recovery journeys. This meeting embodies the values and principles of Steps 1, 10, 11, and 12 through a rotating format: speaker, topic-based discussion, meditation, and book-study discussion
