Newcomer

Designed for people in their first days or weeks. The format usually covers the basics of the program and how meetings work.

Big Book

The group reads from and discusses the book Alcoholics Anonymous (the "Big Book").

Closed

Closed meetings are limited to people who have a desire to stop drinking or using. If you are not sure whether you qualify, an open meeting is the usual first stop.

Discussion

A chair introduces a topic and members take turns sharing. This is the most common meeting format.

Literature

The group reads from approved fellowship literature and discusses it.

Step Study

The meeting works through the Twelve Steps, often using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions or a step working guide.

Tradition Study

Studies the Twelve Traditions.

Notes from the Group

We're a mainline A.A. group focused on our Three Legacies: Recovery, Unity, and Service. Literature-based meetings sharing experience, strength, and hope on the readings, alcoholism, and recovery. Newcomers of all backgrounds welcome. Temporary sponsorship, phone list, and literature available after the meeting. Temporary Address Change - Same Building, Different Entrance (2/23/26 - 3/30/26): Due to a parish seasonal event, we must access the meeting space via 153B Johnson Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11206, (red door; use doorbell) instead of our regular entrance (the side gate on 128 Montrose Avenue). This change ONLY affects the Monday Beginners Big Book meeting; Thursday's Traditions meeting information remains the same. On April 6, 2026, we will return to our regular address. Use the side gate entrance to the main church building next to 128 Montrose Avenue; we meet at the old school cafeteria below.
