- Open meetings welcome anyone — family, friends, students, and people who are simply curious — not only those with a drinking or drug problem.

- One or more members share their story at length. Speaker meetings are a good fit if you would rather listen than talk.
Notes from the Group
➤ In-person meeting at St. James Episcopal Church in Monterey (corner of Franklin & High Streets). The Sunrise Group of Alcoholics Anonymous meets daily at 6:45 AM and Saturday at 7:30 AM. Six days a week the meeting is led by a different secretary who chooses a discussion topic based on A.A. approved literature of their choice. The meeting uses a round the horn format for sharing. On Saturday, the format is speaker discussion. 6/24/26 NOTE: Due to construction, meetings will be held in the church next to McGowan House until further notice. Main entrance
