Partners with Families and Children

Partners with Families and Children provides Outpatient Program and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services for people managing substance use disorders in Spokane and across the Inland Northwest. These outpatient levels of care are designed for individuals who are committed to long-term recovery and need structured programming that fits around existing daily responsibilities — employment, parenting, or school.

The IOP track offers a higher frequency of clinical contact than standard outpatient treatment, making it appropriate for people who need more consistent support during early or ongoing recovery without the disruption of residential treatment. Both programs address co-occurring disorders and dual diagnosis alongside substance use, reflecting the reality that mental health and addiction rarely exist independently.

What separates Partners with Families and Children from most outpatient programs in the region is its structural commitment to the family unit. The center houses a Children's Advocacy Center, child forensic interview services, child legal advocacy, and Kids Court and Teen Court programming — resources that situate addiction treatment inside the broader context of family recovery and child welfare.

For parents in recovery, or for families supporting a loved one through a substance use disorder, this integrated model means clinical treatment and family support exist in the same building, coordinated by a multidisciplinary team. Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is available as part of the therapeutic framework, directly addressing the parent-child relationship as a core element of sustained recovery.

Trauma and substance use disorders are closely linked, and Partners with Families and Children's therapeutic methods reflect that reality. The center uses Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy with a strong track record for treating PTSD and trauma, alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — one of the most widely used frameworks in addiction treatment for identifying and shifting harmful thought and behavior patterns.

The center's outpatient programs are open to men, women, children, and families, including individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing — a population often underserved by mainstream addiction treatment providers. Services are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, from the center's location at 106 West Mission Avenue in downtown Spokane.
