Name: Paul Mauro

Age: 33

Sober Since: 11 / 27 / 2017

Sober For: 6 Years & 156 Days

What it was like?

Misery. Pure and utter misery. Drinking to relieve the burdens and weigh of my expectations of myself and everything around me. Drinking to escape the reality of the chaos I created. Black out benders that lead to more blackout benders. Full of hate, rage, anger and resentment.

What happened?

A loaded 9mm in my mouth to no longer live in the hell I created.

What it is like now?

A husband, a father and a home owner. A contributing member of society, and member of service. Gone are the days of me, myself and I. (Progress not perfection..) Today I live in humility and gratitude. Life has become a dream beyond my wildest imagination. I lost a job amidst a pandemic and gained one providing more financial security, and more time with family. I am an active member of my home group and give back to the community.
