What it was like?

I was living in hell. We all go through challenges in our lives. For me it was being 17 years old, strung out on heroin. Every morning i was sticking a needle in my arm, numbing and pushing away everything and everybody around me. When I was 19 years old I put the drugs down, only after the judge put me in jail for 18 months. I was facing embezzlement charges, robbery, and check fraud, all due to my addiction. I figured as long as I didn’t use drugs I could drink and be fine! I was wrong... When I was 21 I was drinking almost 2 fifths of vodka daily. When I tried to stop my body went into a alcohol induced seizure. I didn’t know if I would ever be able to walk and talk again

What happened?

Upon leaving my last rehab, every morning I would wake up, put my boxing gloves on & go to war with my addiction

What it is like now?

Today, I am 30 years old. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. I have a son on the way. I married my best friend June 2, 2019. I am the CEO for a local non profit working in substance abuse prevention and treatment. I travel all over the state speaking to high school students about the consequences of drugs and alcohol abuse. I could go on and on. If you or anyone you know is struggling, let my testimonial be what gives you hope. Let my story drive you to put one foot in front of the other. If no one has told you yet today, - I believe in you.
