“August Rain: The best of the summer is gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time.”
– Sylvia Plath
It seems like I blinked once and summer is already at an end. It was definitely one for the books. What an exciting couple months it has been. I’ve been to Boston twice, Philly twice, Las Angeles and currently as I write this, I am in Nashville. I’ve been working, hanging out with friends and family, living in the moment and having a good time.
There’s August for ya. Even though the weather may be a bit bi-polar, that doesn’t discount from the fact that we’ve still got a little bit of summer left and still some fun to have.
What are your plans for the rest of the month? Take some time to do something fun! Give me a shout out and let me know! But first, enjoy this weeks newsletter!
Have a good one!
Think you’ve seen everything? Think again. This piece highlights EMDR Therapy and the correlation it has on substance abuse and how it’s been popping up in treatment centers. It’s a pretty interesting article and I wish I had this method available to me when I was in treatment. Maybe I could have dealt with some of my trauma issues differently. I might want to give this beneficial and psychological “light show” a try.
The Doctor is In!
New Lyfe Clothing’s T-Shirt of the week features one of our favorites, and one of the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous, Dr. Bob. We put our millennial and 21st century spin on it. Check it out.
We’re Always On Our Phones
I find that I check my phone dozens of times a day. I’m either checking emails, responding to texts, or responding to some of you guys, and the response I’ve gotten so far for the Jump Start Your Recovery Course is only getting better with time, and I can’t wait to see where it goes!
Get your daily dose of recovery either from your phone or your computer and take a couple of minutes that you need each day for yourself to jump start and reboot your recovery for the day.
Calling all Yogis!
I love this motivating story on the “Far from Finished” podcast of how one alcoholic and addict Mom turned Yoga Instructor gained a sense of zen and recovery with her practice. God knows I couldn’t contort my body into a pretzel if I tried, but I know my fare share of people that do yoga and how they connect with it spiritually and definitely appreciate it. Her story doesn’t disappoint.

Lani is Coming Up on 90 Days
Struggled with a bad addiction to meth, using everyday and never eating or sleeping would leave me constantly strung out and depressed, I became hopeless and unable to function.
