How did you find your higher power?

Finding my Higher Power was–and continues to be–such a gradual, incremental process. When I initially entered recovery, I truly thought that I could conquer every aspect of the program¬†without¬†the belief in a Higher Power. Yet as I went through the steps with my sponsor, a shift progressively occurred…or a kind of ‘psychic change.’ I began to develop a conscience; when I lied, or made any kind of mistake that was hurtful (to both myself and/or others), I felt a kind of visceral, gut reaction that was unpleasant. For the past two decades, before I embarked upon the journey of recovery, I truly felt little to no guilt: particularly when I lied. Today, my conscience is representative of my Higher Power…instinctively & intuitively guiding me to do the ‘next right thing.’
