Ben Affleck Enters Rehab For A Third Time

Oscar winner, Ben Affleck has entered rehab for the third time.
TMZ first reported Wednesday that the star checked into a treatment facility after his ex, Jennifer Garner went to his Pacific Palisades home to sit down with him. Sources say that Garner left the home visibly shaken, before returning shortly after with a sober escort. After that, all three got in a car and headed for a treatment facility.
The Justice League actor’s return to rehab comes just one week after Affleck celebrated his 46th birthday with his kids, and three days after he was seen at a Jack in the Box drive-thru with 22-year-old Playboy model Shauna Sexton.

“He Wanted To Go To Rehab”

Affleck’s first time in treatment came in July 2001, when friend Charlie Sheen drove him to another Malibu facility where the actor completed a 30-day residential rehabilitation program.

Then over 15 years later, Affleck announced on Facebook in March 2017 that he again “completed treatment for alcohol addiction.”

Now, “Ben understands how serious his situation is,” the first source says. “He wanted to go to rehab.”

Garner and Affleck split in 2015 after 10 years of marriage and share three children. The “Justice League” actor reportedly moved on with the family’s then 28-year-old nanny, Christine Ouzounian. Soon after, Affleck began dating “Saturday Night Live” producer Lindsay Shookus. However, it was recently revealed that they broke up, which reports say took a toll on the actor’s sobriety.

Pleas To Enter Treatment

The Blast obtained photos of Affleck receiving a delivery of beer at his home in Pacific Palisades, CA the days leading up to his encounter with Jennifer Garner. It has been reported that Affleck has been in ongoing treatment and attending meetings for substance abuse disorder. It also notes that he knew he needed treatment and was vocal about it. He reportedly didn’t resist Garner’s pleas for him to enter rehab.

“There Is No Shame In Getting Help When You Need It”

Following completion of his treatment in March 2017, Affleck wrote about his experiences in recovery in a Facebook post:

“I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront,” Affleck wrote. “I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.”

Affleck had frequently been sighted visiting outpatient treatment centers in L.A. “Ben has been working incredibly hard for the last year to follow a streamlined program designed for him and his journey,” the source noted. “He has been attending countless meetings, has continued to work with sober coaches, and does his best to follow through with the things that will help him maintain his health.”

Sources close to Affleck have said the actor has made working on his sobriety a top priority in life, but admitted it has been a constant struggle. The source says the 46-year-old actor was aware he needed help and did the right thing by reaching out.
